Southland Electrical Supply was built on the values of service, people and hard work, principles that would grow and nurture a business through 30 years, three generations and thousands of customers. Now reaching into four states with over 140 employees, the brainchild of a father-and-sons team has reached greater heights than anyone could have imagined.

However, the future of Southland was not always so sure. After its inception, a fire threatened to end a family business that was still in its infancy. “It was a total disaster. We lost everything. Our entire inventory was destroyed” owner Jim Griggs says about the tragedy. It took a heart of determination and years of tireless work, but Southland never closed its doors.

The recovery has brought multiple facility expansions that amount to over 200,000 square feet and an unprecedented inventory with equipment dating back to the 1940’s, allowing Southland to establish itself amongst competition as an authority in Power Distribution and Low Voltage Motor Control.

“If people and businesses have their lights on, they are going to need what we have. We will be here to provide the product and service they need, new or old”, says Griggs. It is Southland’s mission and passion to provide customers quality product with a staff who has the expertise to back it up.

“When a problem shuts your business down, Southland will do whatever it takes to get equipment delivered when you need it most” says George Roberts, a Southland employee since its inception. “When you’re a customer with Southland you’re family. That’s the level of service we have provided for the last 30 years, and will continue for the next 30 and beyond.”
