HRC Mounting Hardware Kits for MCCBs

Switchboards are rarely built already full to capacity with feeder devices. More often, in fact, there is room to add feeders or increase feeder sizes, thus consuming more switchboard space. There is usually room to grow.

One serious challenge is that it’s common to find switchboards in service that are no longer supported by the OEM. Equally troublesome is when the switchboard is of current or recent design and is supported, pricing for kits can be very costly.

ROMAC Hardware Resource Company (HRC), a division of ROMAC, offers more than 120 mounting hardware kits covering all major OEMs of NEMA molded case circuit breakers (MCCBs). These include kits for the most common — and hardest to find — MCCBs from Cutler-Hammer/Westinghouse, Federal Pacific, GE, and ITE/Siemens built over the last 35 to 40 years with ratings between 250 and 1200 amps. HRC has also created many designs for replacement panel-mount switch hardware.

MCCB mounting kits are used to mount molded-case breakers into new or existing switchboard as part of an addition, retrofit or replacement operation, giving customers the freedom to choose separate breaker and switchboard vendors and models while saving money by avoiding a complete switchboard replacement.

HRC Hardware Kits consist of:

  • copper legs that connect each pole of the breaker to its corresponding bus bar in the switchboard
  • mounting brackets for supporting the load sides of the breaker to the bus chassis, sometimes referred to as standoffs
  • a deadfront cover plate or filler plate with necessary mounting brackets of their own when required
  • a connector kit of screws and washers
  • an installation drawing

ROMAC HRC’s designers and fabrication technicians also custom manufacture hardware kits to retrofit newer-style breakers into older-style switchboards.
