Bolt Star® 24” Arctic Edition Stands Up to Cold Weather

Bolt Star LLC, manufacturer of the award-winning BOLT STAR^® line of bolt templates, announced the release of its latest version of the popular pole base tool just in time for winter.

The new product, called the BOLT STAR 24” Arctic Edition, is 4.5 times more resistant to freezing temperatures compared to ABS plastics when left on site overnight in the cold. ((This is measured at a 5.6 ft-lb/inch polycarbonate impact strength at -40° F (ASTM D256), compared to 1.2 ft-lb/inch for ABS plastic.))  “The idea behind a cold weather edition is not necessarily meant to enable contractors to pour concrete when it’s below freezing. Some states do not even allow this.” Says Ken Gregory, President of Bolt Star LLC. “Instead, the Arctic Edition is intended to be more ‘cold weather resistant’ and thus provide a higher degree of performance for contractors working in colder regions.”

The high-strength polycarbonate material used in manufacturing the blue “arms” or legs of the Arctic Edition is widely used in outdoor construction, automotive and industrial applications. The Arctic Edition also has a higher resistance to concrete residues and chemical buildup on the tool. “The Arctic Edition demonstrates our commitment to continuously search for innovative materials that are more sustainable than wood,” adds Gregory.

The BOLT STAR 24” Arctic Edition can be used with all BOLT STAR accessories, like the Xtender Adaptor for nested tube and the Square Form Adaptor. The BOLT STAR 24” Arctic Edition is 100% manufactured in the USA.
