What does “safety” mean to Carhartt?

At Carhartt, we exist to serve and protect hardworking people, so safety is built into the DNA of everything we do and make and has been since 1889.

What types of arc flash clothing and other apparel has Carhartt innovated?

Carhartt FR clothing is designed for electricians and workers in the utility, oil, gas, and petrochemical fields who are at risk of exposure to electrical arc flashes and flash fires, which could cause severe or fatal burn injuries. An example is our (4.7 product name) which is our lightest weight FR top at 4.7 ounces but built with the same durability you would expect from Carhartt.

Why is it important to identify these to know the right arc flash and electrical PPE to outfit the worker?

An electric arc-flash is a dangerous release of energy caused by an electric arc when working on or around energized electrical conductors or equipment. Every Carhartt FR garment is rated based on the level of protection they provide the worker. Protective clothing requirements:

  • Meets the requirements of the ASTM F1506 standard
  • Must be flame resistant (FR)
  • Must be arc rated (AR) – with either an Arc Thermal Performance Value (ATPV) or Energy Breakopen Threshold (EBT)
  • NFPA 70E PPE category ratings 1, 2, 3, or 4 when applicable

From your perspective, what’s the #1 advantage Carhartt now offers?

For decision makers, uniforms are a time consuming and necessary part of their day-to-day, but an important part of how the company is viewed by customers and employees.

Carhartt uniforms are the durable product decision makers need to support the bottom line, they showcase the standards the business holds itself to, and how they value their employees.

Carhartt can support any business needs from crews of 10-10K and offers more than just a uniform.

What are the three (3) most important takeaways you want workers to know about Carhartt clothing/workwear?

  1. Durability
  2. It’s what crews want to wear
  3. Curated to fit your business needs with first rate service
